Importing from China

Importer Requirements

What's Important?

Although importing sounds like a great idea it is important to understand that like any business venture it must be economically sound.  We have many years of personal experience in importing and therefore will advise potential clients as to the merit of their proposal. Remember that the main aim of importing is to obtain a cheaper sourced product than what you can obtain domestically.

What's Economic?

As a guide potential importers should anticipate minimum quantities of approximately $20,000 stock per annum in order to obtain economic efficiencies in manufacture and shipping.  However that isn’t to say that we won’t assist you for quantities less than that, but it will depend upon the merits of the particular product you are looking to source. Please be aware that we won’t waste your time or ours.

Getting Started

First, organise a description of the product you want us to source.

This is the most crucial step. The more information you are able to provide as to your particular specifications, the more successful we will be in sourcing exactly what you require.  The Chinese are masters of imitation, however ensuring good quality and suitability of product is where our company helps and assists in sourcing a product that you will be proud to market.

Descriptive information suggested includes:

  • photos of the actual item (or similar item)
  • website links to other suppliers selling this item
  • size measurements (in centimetres)
  • colour descriptions
  • description as to the function of the item (e.g. golf tee = used to rest golf ball when playing golf)
  • anticipated quantity required (first order and then future)
  • notification of any industry standards that are applicable to your product (e.g. safety standards)
  • price that you anticipate selling this product for – this will give us a guide as to the standard of quality product that you are sourcing. $1 RRP for a product will be a different quality to something selling for RRP $10.
  • major capital city that the goods will be shipped to (e.g. Sydney, Melbourne etc)
  • timeframe (e.g. next month, within 6 months etc)

What's Next?

Once our staff have received your request we will process and present a proposal to you of sourced products and costs.  Normally this is approximately 7-10 days turnaround. Please advise our staff if you have an urgent request and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements and schedules.

From there, it is up to you to either accept or request modifications to the proposal.  Once agreement has been reached the products will be manufactured, quality controlled and then shipped to your location ready for you to market.
